The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Monopoly comes with everything you need to start playing: a game board, 6 collectible tokens (Leonardo’s Katana, Raphael’s Sai, Michelangelo’s Nunchucks, Donatello’s Bo Staff, Shredder’s Helmet, and Krang), 28 Title Deed cards featuring iconic locations from the show, 16 Pizza Slice cards instead of Chance cards, 16 Foot Clan cards instead of Community Chest cards, custom play money featuring characters from the show, 32 green houses and 12 red hotels (renamed Pizzas and Sewers), 2 dice, and instructions.
Gameplay
The gameplay is similar to that of traditional Monopoly. Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their tokens around the board. They buy properties they land on or they can choose to auction them off if they don’t want to purchase them. The ultimate goal is to own all properties in a color group in order to build Pizzas (houses) and Sewers (hotels) on them. The more properties a player owns in a color group with buildings on them, the higher rent they can charge other players who land on their properties.
Why I Love This Game
As a fan of both franchises since childhood, I love how this game combines elements from both worlds. The collectible tokens are detailed and well-made replicas of iconic weapons used by the turtles themselves. The property locations are also carefully chosen from different seasons and storylines of the show. Plus, instead of traditional community chest and chance cards which can get repetitive after multiple games played, this version includes Pizza Slice cards featuring fun actions like “Cowabunga! Move ahead three spaces” or “Shredder attack! Pay $50 for repairs”. These small details make playing this version even more enjoyable for me.
